Lodge Regular Meeting.
Following the Regular meeting of the Lodge on the above date the RWM Bro. Robert Smith joined the brethren of the Lodge in Harmony and thereafter presented the 2024 Charity Cheques to the following recipients: - Guide Dogs Scotland, St Andrews Hospice, Lanarkshire Cancer Care, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, MND Scotland, Macmillan Cancer Support, Parkinson’s Self-Help Group, Meningitis Research Foundation Scotland, Maggie’s Lanarkshire, The Moira Anderson Foundation and Erskine who each received cheques for £200-(A total of £2,2000). Each representative gave an update on the work of their own organisation and in turn thanked the Lodge for their generous donations.
It was also noted that since the presentation had been introduced in the year 2001 the Lodge had presented in excess of £50,000 in funds to the current March Masonic Charities as well as support for other organisations throughout the various years. The RWM Bro. Robert Smith PM thanked the representatives for their attendance and their ongoing work in their own field.

Caldercruix St John 1314. M.M.M. Degree.
A Deputation from Lodge Caldercruix St John 1314 headed by RWM Bro J Kerr P.M. which also included the RWM of 1067 Bro G Rowe P.M. were welcomed by R.W.M. Bro Robert Smith P.M. and his assembled Brethren.
Once the formalities of the introductions were complete the Mallet was exchanged and the office bearers switched. Thereafter RWM Bro J Kerr passed the Mallet to RWMM Bro S Haviland P.M. who then oversaw the Craftsmen of 1314 confer an excellent working of the Mark Master Mason degree on 166's most recent master mason Bro Jamie Pearson. When the labours of the 1314 quarrymen and craftsmen were complete a favourable vote of thanks was expressed by the RWM of 1067 Bro G Rowe to which WJW Bro Wm Murray P.M. conveyed a suitable reply.

5th Wednesday Club Regular Meeting.
On the above date, the member Lodges of the Fifth Wednesday Club - 114, 166, 919, 1288 and 1513, met to begin their new five year cycle of meetings.
The Club has led a very successful programme of meetings for the last TEN years and this was continued when Lodge Cambuslang Royal Arch 114 hosted a good turn out of members and visitor’s to witness the newest members of the Club, Lodge Robert King Stewart 919 make their debut as the conferring Lodge of an excellent EA degree.
An excellent Harmony Board followed.

Lodge Deputation
Lodge Airdrie St John 166 travelled to Lodge Caledonian St John Royal Arch No.195 to confer an Exemplification of the F.C. Degree.
The Large Deputation was headed by R.W.M. Bro. Robert Smith P.M. The deputation was warmly received by R.W.M Bro. Maxwell Gray and his assembled Brethren.
This evenings Degree Team was headed by Bro. James Ferguson P.M. Secy. followed by Bro. Robert McCue W.J.W. P.M. and Bro Robert Mair MM.
All Brethren and floor office bearers carried out their duties in an Exemplary manner. At the conclusion of their Labours RWM Gavin Black Brown of Lodge Barhill Twechar No 1444 was requested to propose a vote of thanks to this Degree team, Bro James Ferguson P.M. suitably replied. All the Brethren were invited to stay behind for some Lodge 195 hospitality. RWM Bro Robert Smith P.M would like to thank All the Brethren that supported him on this deputation.

Lodge Regular Meeting.
(History in the Making)
Due to unforeseen circumstances the January meeting of Lodge 2024 saw a first for Lodge 166 where the RWM Elect , Bro. Robert Smith PM, was installed having being unable to be placed in Chair of King Solomon in December 2023 due to illness.
Following the routine business of the Lodge , which included a Memorial Service for those brethren who passed to the Grand Lodge above in 2023, Bro. James Ferguson PM and Bro. Robert McCormick PM carried out their respective duties as Installing Masters - in an impeccable manner and to the satisfaction of those in attendance.
If that wasn’t enough both PM’ s thereafter conferred an excellent and faultless rendering of the FC degree on the Lodge’s newest candidate.

Annual Installation Ceremony.
On what should have been another Installation celeberation for the Lodge was rocked to hear that the RWM Elect, Bro. Robert Smith, had contracted Covid and therefore was unable to attend his planned Installation evening.
Following consultation with the PGL Lanarkshire Middle Ward a decision was taken to carry on with the Installation meeting where the Office Bearers for the year 2023/24 was completed
Both Installing Masters Bro. James Ferguson and Bro. Robert McCormick were piped in to the Temple and after a short openign ceremony
Bro. Robert McCormick, RWIM, thereafter completed the investiture of those Office Bearers who were in attendance.
Thereafter the brethren retired to partake in the Installation Harmony Board.
It is anticipated that the RWM Elect will be suitably installed at the January 2024 meeting of the Lodge (17th).

Visit to Dunelm Lodge No. 4079
Five Brethren from Lodge 166 travelled to Darlington to witness the Annual Installation Cermony of Lodge No. 4079.
All visiting brethren were extented a very warm welcome from W.M. Bro. Alan Comerford and his Brethren.
W.M. Bro. Alan Comerford had the duty of Installing all the Brethren into their respective offices, including Installing the New W.M. Bro. Dave Wood.
The Labours from Bro. Alan Comerford were carried out in an Excellent Manner.
After All Lodge Business was complete, the Assembled Brethren were invited to Lodge No.4079 Installation Banquet.

Bro. Craig Murdoch had the Honour of laying a wreath to help us honour and remember people who have died in War.

Lodge Presentation.
Visit to Lodge Woodhall St. John’s No. 305.
On the above date Lodge 305 held their last meeting of their bicentennial year marking 200 years of Freemasonry in Bellshill.
Representing our RWM Bro. James Ferguson, Bro. Graham McEwan and Bro. Iain Gibson were in attendance to witness the occasion. At a suitable moment in the proceedings Bro. Ferguson PM presented a gift from our Lodge to mark this very significant celebration and milestone of Lodge 305.
In presenting the gift Bro. Ferguson commented on the historical link between the two Lodges with Lodge 166 being one of the sponsor Lodges way back in 1823. Bro. Gordon Airns RWM Lodge 305 graciously accepted the gift and commented that it would have pride of place in future harmonies of the Lodge.

Regular Lodge Meeting.
RWM Bro. William McFarlane welcomed a Deputation from Lodge Caldercruix St John No.1314. This Deputation was headed by RWM Bro. George Randall. RWM Bro. George Randall was invited to join RWM Bro. William McFarlane in the East of the Lodge, but before doing so RWM Bro. George Randall gave a breif history lesson between Lodge 1314 and 166, as Follows: On the 4th Day of October 1923, 19 Brethren from Lodge Airdrie St John 166 travelled the dark road to Caldercruix to establish light and assist in the consecration and erection of Lodge Caldercruix St John 1314.
On the 4th Day of October 2023 Exactly 100 years later 19 Brethren from Lodge Caldercruix St John 1314 have travelled to Lodge Airdrie St John 166 to confer the M.M.M. degree and say "Thank-You" to our sister Lodge, for without their help and assistance our lodge may never have existed.
Lodge 1314 were invited along to confer The M.M.M. Degree.
The MMM Degree team was headed by RWMM Bro. William Murray P.M. Bro. Murray P.M. and his Team conferred an Exceptional MMM Degree. At the Conclusion of Lodge 1314s labours a Complimentary and Poignant vote of thanks was conveyed by Bro. James Ferguson P.M. Secy. RWM Bro. George Randall gave a suitable Reply.

Annual Family Divine Service.
SPGM’s Laird McDonald and Colin Campbell headed a team from Provincial Grand Lodge to the important date in the Lodge 166 diary for our Annual Divine Service.
Following the welcome by the Right Worshipful Master the well attended service with family and friends was presided over by the Rev Alistair Weighton and the Organist Mrs Janice McKay from Coatdyke Congregational Church.. A Hugh Thank-You to All our visiting Brethren, it’s very much appreciated. A nice night of fellowship and sermon by Rev Alastair Weigton.
Following the service the Lodge made a cheque presentation of £250 to the Ministers chosen charity. (Link to Hope) shoe box appeal.

all Brethren carried out their duties to a very high standard. But all was not Lost for Lodge 166 as Bro. Robert Mair M.M.166 conferred part of this degree, this was expertly performed by Bro.Mair.

On above evening Bro. Robert McCue P.M. represented Lodge Airdrie St John 166 at this 5th Wednesday Meeting. This meeting was hosted by Lodge Dura 1513. Also in attendance were a Deputation from Provincial Grand Lodge of Lanarkshire Middle Ward headed by DPGM Bro. Norman Carnegy.
A Deputation from Lodge St. Enoch No.1288 headed by RWM Bro. Albert Loughran were welcomed into Lodge Dura No1513 by RWM Bro. Alan Graham. also in the deputation were the RWM Bro. Jack Alexander (471), & RWM Bro. Jim Richardson (114).
Lodge 1288 conferred an Exemplify Exemplification of the F.C. Degree. The Degree was headed by Bro. George Deakin J.D., and his team. Thanks were extended to Bro. John White for assisting as candidate. DPGM Bro. Norman Carnegy proposed a vote of thanks to The Degree team and office bearers.

The above evening saw the start of our Lodge Regular Meetings after the Recess.
R.W.M. Bro. William McFarlane welcomed the assembled Brethren. A special welcome was extended to Brethren that travelled from Darlington, Lodge Dunelm No. 4079.
Also in attendance was an unofficial deputation from The Provincial Grand Lodge Middle Ward of Lanarkshire headed by RWPGM Bro. Andrew D Millar. After All Lodge business was completed RWM Bro. William McFarlane welcomed a Very Large Deputation from Lodge Robert King Stewart No.919 headed by R.W.M. Bro. Gary Muircroft. R.W.M. Bro. Gary Muircroft introduced the Reigning Masters in his deputation.
Lodge Robert King Stewart were invited along to confer an Exemplification of the E.A. Degree. The Degree Team was headed by RWM Bro Gary Muircroft. The Assembled Brethren witnessed an Excellent exemplification of this Degree, all Brethren carried out this Ritual in an exemplary manner.

Lodge Deputation.
On Wednesday 2nd August a huge number of brethren gathered to witness the centennial meeting of Lodge Caldercruix St. John No 1314 and where our own RWM Bro. William McFarlane had been invited to head a Deputation of Airdrie Lodges into the meeting.
An excellent rendering of the MMM degree was conferred on 5 candidates by Lodge Bothwell Brig No . 1229.
At the harmony that followed the RWM is pictured presenting a gift befitting the occasion. (See Below).
The RWM would like thank his own brethren who turned out to support him and deputation.

Lodge Regular Meeting
R.W.M. Bro. William McFarlane welcomed a very large attendance of Brethren into this summer night meeting, 85 Brethren in total. There were brethren from 14 different Lodges from within and out-with our province in attendance. After all business were complete our Bro. D.O.C. presented the R.W.M. with two well known Brethren within 166. Bro. John Ronald M.M. and Bro. John Black M.M. Bro. John Ronald was presented with his 60 years membership certificate of Lodge 166 a Fantastic achievement. Bro.John Black was presented with his 50 years membership certificate of Lodge 166, also a Great achievement. Both brethren were delighted with this presentation. RWM Bro William McFarlane invited both Brethren to join him in the East of the Lodge Room.
The Lodge continued with tonights M.M. Degree. This degree was headed by Bro James O Ferguson P.M. Secy assisted by Bro Robert Mair M.M. The Ritual work from Both Brethren and floor office-bearers was carried out in a professional manner. All Brethren were subjected to a Masonic Treat.

Due to our RWM Bro. William McFarlane taken a well earned break, the Gavel was in the very capable hands
of our I.P.M. Bro. Robert Grant. After the completion of all Lodge business a Large and Distinguished deputation
from Lodge Blantyre Kilwinning No.557 was received. This deputation was headed by R.W.M Bro. William Manning.
Lodge 557 were invited along to confer the M.M.M, Degree on one M.M. On RWM Bro. William Manning receiving
the Gavel it was smartly handed onto Bro. James L. Clark Mark Master to confer this degree.
All Brethren witnessed an Excellent Rendition of the Mark Degree. Bro. Clark P.M. was assisted
by Bro. Gordon Mather P.M. also, not forgetting All other floor office bearers.

A fantastic night was had by all. A big thank-you to all the lodges that anticipated.

Overall games night winners were Lodge 544 Who received a donation of
£50 to be donated to the charity of their choice.

The third Wednesday of the month saw PGL make their annual visit to the Lodge
to make known their report on the statistical returns and the condition of the
Lodge Books - all of which were found to be most satisfactory.
The PGL Deputation was headed by SPGM. Bro. Colin Campbell who, himself was supported by another 11 members of PGL.
They along with the brethren attending witnessed an excellent rendering
of the EA degree, conferred by PM’s Bro.Craig Gibson, Bro.Bobby McCormick
and Bro.Jim Ferguson.

Lodge Robert Burns No.440. The Deputation was welcomed by R.W.M Bro.Iain A Edgar
and his assembled Brethren. Tonight's Master Mason Degree team was headed by
Bro. George Gray P.M. assisted by Bro. Alex J.C. Graham P.M. and floor office bearer's.
The Degree was enhanced by our lodge vocalist Bro. Robert McCue P.M. S.D.

R.W.M Bro William McFarlane headed a fine and Large Deputation along to Lodge St Andrew No544 to confer an Exemplification E.A. Degree. R.W.M. Bro Craig McKee and his Brethren extended a warm welcome into his Lodge. After The Lodge Gavel was exchanged Lodge Airdrie St john 166 office Bearers resumed their labours, Bro. Robert McCormick P.M. headed and confered the Full Degree in an Exemplary manner, a Masonic Treat for the assembled brethren. After all Labours were complete Bro. John Hume P.M. gave an Heart warming thanks to the Degree team in particular to Bro. Robert McCormick P.M. in the way he delivered the Full Degree Ritual himself. Bro. Robert McCormick suitably replied. After closing the Lodge All Brethren retired for some Lodge Harmony. RWM Bro William McFarlane would like to Thank All the Brethren that supporting him on this journey, its very much appreaciated.

On Wednesday 15th February 2023 RWM Bro William McFarlane had the pleasure of inviting Lodge New Monkland Montrose No88 along to confer the M.M.M Degree. This deputation was headed by RWM Bro Iain Keltie.
On Resuming their Labours the Degree was headed by M.M. Bro. David Morrison P.M. assisted by various office Bearers from Lodge 88.

The first Tuesday of the month saw the RWM Bro. William McFarlane make his first Deputation of his year to Lodge Caldercruix St. John 1314 who had invited the Lodge to confer the MM degree.
The RWM entered the Lodge room with a very large number of brethren and visitors from within and outside our province, who were then treated to a high quality performance by the degree workers - Bro. Jim Ferguson PM and Bro. Bobby Mair - who were again both faultless in their delivery. Also a Hugh Thank-you to our Lodge Soloist Bro. Robert McCue P.M. S.D.
Their dramatisation of the MM degree is a pleasure to witness. Those in attendance witnessed another excellent 166 degree.

William McFarlane welcomed his first Deputation of the year in his capacity as RWM, where Lodge Coatbridge St. Andrew No. 544 had been invited to come along and confer the Mark Master Mason degree. This they did, to a very high standard and very good attendance showed their appreciation in the usual manner.

The Lodge returned to Masonic activity when the first meeting of 2023 was held on the above date .
The RWM Bro. William McFarlane welcomed all the brethren to a healthy and happy New Year.
As is tradition in Lodge 166, the Installing Master’s from the previous year open up the new RWM’s first meeting in his year in office.
Prior to the degree the Lodge carried out its’ unique annual Memorial Service in recognition of those members who had passed to the Grand Lodge above in the preceding year - of which there were six. Always a very solemn and respectful occasion in the Lodge calendar.
The Memorial Service was carried out by Bro. Robert McCue P.M. S.D. assisted by Bro. George Linning Lodge Almoner.
On this occasion Bro. Alexander JC Graham PM and Bro. George Gray PM obliged and were on hand to confer an exemplification of the MM degree.
On a bitterly cold night the RWM expressed his thanks to those in attendance for coming along.
